The Start menu
Many Windows 8 users would tell you what they missed most was the Start Menu when they switched from Windows 7. The Start Menu is very engaging, notably when you have a few live tiles working. The Start Menu will not take up your entire desktop, and you can make it quickly disappear by clicking outside the tile interface.
Edge, the browser
Before Edge, you had to have an extra app to take notes in a browser window. With Edge Windows 10 lets you do that and more. Use your finger on a touch pad or your finger or a stylus on a touchscreen to circle, draw on, or highlight portions of a page that you can then save.
Cortana
Cortana is already on Windows 10 phones. Cortana is your digital assistant, allowing you to ask questions like “What’s the latest score in the Orioles game?” Cortana can adjust to how you customize and use Windows 10. If you add favorite places, like home, work, and the local swim club, you ask Cortana how long it will take you to get home from work, she will get a traffic report for that route. She can track your package with a tracking #. Cortana can provide local restaurant recommendations and movie times. Microsoft promises she will get smarter about you and your preferences as long as you keep sharing your interests with her.
