Todays Trivia Answer- World's Smallest Country

Vatican City is the world's smallest country. With

an area of approximately .2 square miles, and a

population of about 800, it is the world's smallest

country in both area and population. The Vatican

City is situated on the Vatican hill, within the city

of Rome, and serves as the spiritual center for

millions of practicing Roman Catholics

worldwide. Within Vatican City are cultural sites

such as St. Peter's Basilica, the Sistine Chapel

and the Vatican Museums. They feature some of

the world's most famous paintings and sculptures.

The unique economy of Vatican City is supported

financially by the sale of postage stamps and

tourist mementos, fees for admission to museums,

and the sale of publications.

Taste Bud Trivia Answer

Taste buds go through a life cycle where they grow from basal cells into taste cells and then die and are sloughed away. Taste buds are located in papillae in the tongue (but not in center). Each taste bud contains about 50 taste receptor cells. Taste buds are also located in the roof of the mouth, inside cheeks, and in the throat. (some insects have taste buds on feet). Humans possess on average 6000 taste buds. These are constantly degenerating and being replaced. Life expectancy is about 10 days. Not true neurons (unlike olfactory receptor cells). Different regions of tongue are most sensitive to different primary tastes. The center of the tongue has no taste buds and is thus “blind” to taste. Our perception is that taste sensations originate from entire mouth, not just the tongue.

Maryland's State Sport

Jousting, the centuries old equestrian sport originated in the Middle Ages in the era of knighthood. It is Maryland's State Sport, designated by the General Assembly in 1962. Maryland was the first state to designate an official state sport. Jousting tournaments have been held in Maryland since early colonial times but became increasingly popular after the Civil War. Retaining the pageantry and customs of medieval tournaments, modern competitors are called "knights" or "maids", and many dress in colorful costumes. Men, women and children compete equally with skill and horsemanship determining the class.

Sound bars

Sound bars

Simple set-up, home-theater-in-a-box (HTIB) systems. Three types of HTIB systems: some without a built-in disc player, some have Blu-ray player, and sound bars combined.

HTIBs are now 5.1- or 7.1-channel systems outfitted with either five or seven acoustically matched speakers, plus a sub-woofer (AC operated and/or wireless). As an added amenity, some have or include an option for adding--wireless rear speaker amplifiers, most have iPod docks that let you play songs or videos through your entertainment system. Most models with a Blu-ray player have access online, including streaming movies from Amazon, Blockbuster, Netflix, or Vudu.  A few 3D-empowered HTIBs have  receivers that go through 3D signals to a TV, others include a built-in 3D-proficient Blu-ray player

A lot include an auto-calibration feature that can mechanically set suitable speaker volume levels.

Blu-ray models, high-definition 1080p picture quality is consistent while playing Blu-ray discsSystems with good or even fair sound may appease less demanding listeners, while sound bars with very good or superb sound are suggested for more demanding listeners, particularly with music.

Sound bars that connect directly to your TV without using a receiver, allow for a less difficult audio upgrade. The speakers contained in the sound bar customarily support stereo sound. A few will even decode Dolby Digital multi channel audio. Particular sound bars also have an outside powered sub-woofer, often wireless, that will manage the bass. Some models use electronic methods to replicate surround sound.

Answer To The Roaring Lion Question

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc. (abbreviated MGM) is a media company, involved primarily in the production and distribution of feature films and television programs. The studio's logo is a roaring lion surrounded by a ring of film inscribed with the studio's motto. The logo, which features Leo the Lion, was created by Dietz in 1916 for Goldwyn Pictures and updated in 1924 for MGM's use. Dietz based the logo on his alma mater's mascot, the Columbia University lion. Originally silent, the sound of Leo the Lion's roar was added to films for the first time in August 1928.

Sound Bars

A sound bar is a nice resolution if you have a small space and need a easy way to improve your TV's acoustics without having to design and fabricate a complete surround-sound system. Sound Bars are thin chambers, about 40" or longer, that can be mounted on the wall or placed on a shelf above or below the TV. Also, pedestal-style sound bars, called sound bases, can serve as a base for a TV.
(Be sure to know the weight of your TV set and what the stand can support.)

There are models that can replicate surround sound. Some sound bars do have rear speakers, which can add to the surround-sound effect. Some may have a Blu-ray or DVD player built into
the system. You do not need a receiver to connect a sound bar directly to your TV, and there are fewer wires to deal with. Some new features: Wi-Fi capability for accessing streaming services
and other content, as well as Bluetooth connections this will allow you to stream music from compatible mobile devices.

The Only Blind President

Theodore Roosevelt's interest in boxing was well-known, but an injury he suffered from it while president was one of the best-kept secrets of his administration. After he reached the White House, Roosevelt continued his hobby of inviting sparring partners to box, a practice he started as governor of New York. Roosevelt met his match in what turned out to be his final bout in 1908 when an opponent landed a punch to the president's left eye. The blow caused severe hemorrhaging, eventually a detached retina, and finally blindness in the eye. He was 50 years old at the time.

Purchasing Home Theater Components

This week Thunderbolt Electronics would like to talk a little about purchasing separate home theater components. This can be very daunting task, as well as expensive. Linking them can also be a challenge. Sound bar speakers are becoming an increasingly attractive choice.
A sound bar is a chamber that contains several speakers, front, right, and left. Sometimes one in the center. You can connect
directly to your TV, with no need for a receiver. Some systems have a separate sub-woofer, mostly wireless, some have rear speakers.
The prices range from $100 to $600. Some models will cost you up to $1,000 or more.
A "home theater in a box" (HTIB) is an integrated home theater package which "bundles" together a combination DVD or Blu-ray player, a multi-channel amplifier (which includes a surround sound decoder, a radio tuner, and other features), speaker wires, connection cables, a remote control, a set of five or more surround sound speakers (or more rarely, just left and right speakers)
and a low-frequency sub-woofer.
